Photo Collages (for Personal Use)

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

I love a photo collage, so naturally, I like creating them myself and have done a couple in the past for my website mainly around events I went to. My first one was based around the cycling event called CiCle Classic, which I later combined with Lincoln GP (another cycling race). With the most recent one being based around my two dogs.

To start, I gather ALL (even the bad ones) the photos of my chosen subject and put them into a folder on my computer. Then slowly but surely gradually delete them into only the ones I love are left. For example, for the Lincoln GP event, I started with around 3,000 photos and in the end had 45 be uploaded to the website in the photo collage.

However, I made a few mistakes in the previous photo collages of doing them directly onto the website, so when I deleted the website to revamp it, I lost the work (I know a bad mistake).

But I have learnt from my previous mistake and currently doing my latest photo collage through InDesign. The topic being based around my two rescue dogs (Bobby and Penny) whom we have plenty of pictures of (quite a lot low quality as they move around a lot and don’t sit still) which has allowed me to learn some limits of the website as I have to upload 25mb a time which means that I have multiple files already and I’ve only used ten photos. While this is annoying, it means an accidental deletion won’t remove it forever.
