Running/Managing Charity Event for WBR ($2000 raised)

In 2017, I volunteered as the lead admin on our charity push for World Bike Relief. This meant I organised the majority of things, including the marketing push to advertise and drive people to support the charity event we took part in.

This meant that I had to not only do external marketing, but I had to market the event inhouse as well to get as many of us to take part as we could get. The first aim was to attract as many fellow team members to partake as if you can’t get teammates involved; then you have got no hope of getting others. I was incredibly proud of the response we got from our fellow team members which meant we could take it to the next steps and focus on external marketing, so others knew what we were doing. This worked extremely well too with other teams getting involved in our event too as a way to raise more money.

One of my biggest successes in managing and running the event for the team was that I used other people’s experience and suggestions as people who partook in our event had greater experience of how these events ran as it was the first time I was the main guy running an event.

In order to help smooth the communication between myself and the participants, I created a closed Facebook group where I could get easy direct communication between everyone, and it could go as smoothly as possible.

In the end, we successfully raised around $2000 for the charity and feel very proud of how that money can impact a lot of lives.
