Background on Website Content

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

I’ve always had the website registered in my name, but until 2017 it was a dead website and wasn’t even activated. In 2017, I decided to start a cycling blog using Wix mixing my passion for cycling, marketing and technology together. The website was fairly successful for something I did for fun getting 20-30 views a day minimum and sometimes a lot more.

I worked a lot on my writing (as you naturally do with blogs) and enjoyed that aspect of the content. Running the blog also made me more aware of how important clarity is as well as other aspects such as how to track analytics and of course using common sense to know which type of posts would attract more clicks and which wouldn’t.

The posts with fancy cover photos such as celebrating a win, a national championship kit (in cycling if you win a national championships you get to wear a kit with your national flag for a season) or a rider I just transferred in for the upcoming season got more clicks, so I realised that I needed to focus on the cover photo a lot more than originally thought.
