Team TFC Rider Profiles

Updated: Sep 15, 2020

After the original interview with the agency where they said that Indesign is the main program used in the apprenticeship, I decided that I should probably learn the basics.

So, I redownloaded Adobe Creative Cloud and re-subscribed before installing Indesign and going through the tutorials on the Adobe website. After I finished the tutorials, I decided that I wanted to put the skills I learnt and put use them in practice.

We had previously discussed creating Rider Profiles for all our team members so as I had just learnt the basics of Indesign, I thought this suited me perfectly where I could continue learning but also do something practical, so I volunteered to create them.

To start this, I did some research on magazines and other places which do people profiles. I settled a picture, top 5 results, a quick questionnaire and a small bio. The picture is simple as the individuals upload it themselves. Best five results can be taken from a 3rd party website (Zwiftpower) which takes all races and events, so that’s quite easy to track. A fun facts area was slightly harder, but I kept the questions simple and found it quite easy; Name, the category they race in, nationality, joined the team, joined the platform, favourite interval, favourite racecourse, favourite thing about the team and when they ride. And the small bio, another individual upload and requires nothing from myself.

The template was the next thing that I had to worry about. The obvious thing to do was put the picture in the top right with the fun facts below. That meant the left side has the Best five results and bio. I had a couple of concerns with the template, mainly bios being self-written mean a much bigger difference in potential size between each profile.

As this is an ongoing process with the rest of the brochure yet to be completed, I will be looking to design a cover and other pages to life soon as well.

Example of Rider Profile: Zac Rogers (Me) Team TFC Rider Profile.
