Dual-Purpose Art (Website Header + Bedroom Art)

Updated: Jun 24, 2020

I wanted some dual-purpose art for the header of my website (ZacRogers.co.uk) and something which could be printed off and used above my bed. I prefer original art as it suits my requirements better and I feel it makes the product (in this case my website) look much better.

As I am a keen cyclist and my original website was a blog about cycling, I wanted something that was cycling-based. As a result, I wanted something abstract yet simple enough that it would grab attention but not too much attention.

As it was something I wanted to be proud of and display a lot and wanted a complete professional look, I outsourced it to an artist I know would be able to do the style that I wanted, but I still left a lot to artistic expression as one of the reasons you outsource is because it's their expertise, not yours.

I wanted three sort-of-abstract cyclists where you could tell its cyclists at a glance but not much detail. With the background being either mountains or grass which we came to an agreement that mountains would be better as it was black and white abstract which meant mountains would look much better and more stereotypical of cycling art.

As you can see in my very rough draft that I sent to the artist, I feel I made the correct decision and am very proud of the artwork.

Original Draft Sent to Artist by Me.

Final Product: Very happy with the final outcome of this product (Artist: https://twitter.com/_strwb)
